Videos of the Day – week of 8/27/18

8/27 – earlier this month, Dave Grohl unveiled his 23-minute instrumental opus where he is not only a one-man-band playing 7 instruments, but he plays them all in one take (!), simply called “Play.” The extra 7 minutes at the beginning is a nice lead-in to how & why he started into this project, but it does contain typically Grohl-ian strong language as Dave attempts to master all the parts!

8/28 – Sister Sparrow has a new album out in Oct.  For her new lyric video, the lyrics were displayed in emojis instead of words on Snapchat, after leading fans through a social media scavenger hunt to allow them to see the video and hear the single 24 hours before it was officially released.

8/29 – We can’t imagine this video will have less than 200 views for long…in the great tradition of soul singers “discovered” by the mainstream later in life (Charles Bradley, Sharon Jones), may we introduce to you Ural Thomas & The Pain!  Listen for their own new single next week on Two For the Road!

8/30 – As heard on The News at Noon this week, Aurora has a new single out!

8/31 – a star-studded 2-disc tribute to Roger Miller is out today…how many of these legends can you name?
